Large Harvest Bowl with 2 HandHolds-Green over White Glaze

A recent example from WoodFiring 268. The glaze is a copper green and has an overall robust and earthy quality. It is certainly an example of recent expressionistic work. I did a series of perhaps 25 of these; each is a bit different but all came through the firing with a wonderful folkcraft quality. The glaze quality in the interior part of the pot (place mouse over the photo) comes from a double application. This slight puddling is an enriching decorative effect and it in no way compromises function or strength of the pot.  The patterns on the rim are achieved by using a carved stamp that is expressed into the soft clay..  With this technique I apply a zircon white glaze underneath. you will notice the copper glaze has been reduced so that it is actually developing a slight copper red quality.
